Day 2 - Tour of Delhi

After getting a few hours of sleep and having a fantastic breakfast at Double Tree, a tour guide showed me around Old Delhi and New Delhi. I visited three sites in Old Delhi. The Raj Ghat is the memorial site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. I saw the Red Fort from the outside and the Jama Masjid. In New Delhi, I visited the Minaret-Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, Humayun Tomb as well as driving by Rajpath, Parliament House, The President House, and the Diplomatic Enclave. I ended the day with a relaxing swim in a gorgeous pool overlooking the city.

Day 1 - Travel

Travel, travel, and more travel. From Fayetteville to Chicago to London to Delhi, I traveled for more than 24 hours. The first thing I noticed about India is the heat. Upon arrival around 12:00 AM, the temperature was 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat felt like a massive hair blow dryer pointed directly at me. I stayed the night at a very nice Double Tree Hotel. I loved how I went to India and stayed in an American Hotel.

Outdated, but "better late than never" for me

The next few things I'm going to post are slightly outdated. I've been super busy and the internet here is testy. I started this journey on June 30th.

The Star of Bollywood

My name is Sydney Dickson, and I am a rising sophomore and a civil engineering student. I'm traveling to India for a six-week study abroad excursion to investigate its modern economy and how engineering is integrated into it. I'm excited to explore their culturally diverse culture and the historical locations. I will primarily be studying in Bangalore, but I will travel in the northern and southern parts of India. Six UA students will be experiencing this study abroad trip with me. Bryan Hill is leading this trip and Dr. Milburn is the engineering professor accompanying my group.
